Inspired by Frederick Douglass' Anti Slavery Newspaper, Northstar, the logo represents the compass that leads to freedom.
The brand needed to have a grassroots feel to it. It had to give a sense of unity as it gathered many college students from different parts of the country. From event collateral to their web presence, everything had to be cohesive and intentional.
One of the challenges of this project was to create a brand that visually connect with the overarching organization, IJM, and also has its own unique identity. One significant visual solution was to use the IJM brand color yellow as Northstar's primary color.
However, besides having a great brand experience, the larger goal of the brand was to foster more advocates to fight against modern day slavery. What started in one city has now become a multi-city event.
